"Sassy Fat Ass
Appalachian Fiddle" Although this unusual Appalachian fiddle instrument combines the rounded backside of a lute or mandolin, it still has the overall look and tuning of a violin, with a virtual fifth string, and a fretless neck. This sassy little girl was carved from a single piece of HRB, specifically, a profound example of the most extreme -- pin-burl. (Pin burl actually has spines growing out it like hedgehog or a sea urchin.) Includes a tiny brass-inlaid little bow. Inlaid brass nut, bridge, and fretboard edging. This is an example of hand craftsmanship at its best, a collector's or musician's piece, using no computerization or chemical finishes in its making. "Sassy" comes mounted on a base of rosewood, mahogany, and zericote, and encased in a glass dome.
