"Oreo Ovation"
This gorgeous little cookie was carved from one solid piece of ziricote, with a frontal overlay of spalted sapwood Honduran Rosewood Burl (HRB), inlaid brass frets and tuning pegs. "Oreo" comes mounted on a custom freeform ziricote base in a glass dome. Made in Old World tradition, it was hand cut, hand carved, and hand buffed without the aid of computerization techniques or chemical finishes.

Ziricote (Cordia dodecandra) grows in Central America and Mexico. Grain is straight to slightly interlocked. Medium to fine texture, with good natural luster. Ziricote ranges from medium brown/gray-brown to dark brown, with darker bands of black growth rings intermixed. It has a unique appearance, sometimes referred to as “spider-webbing” or “landscape” grain figure.
